St. Edward the Confessor Mission (SEC) is a Roman Catholic Church located in Pointe Claire, Quebec, sharing the building at 98 Aurora with Lakeshore Trinity United Church. We are a welcoming parish. Whatever your present circumstances, your status in the Catholic Church, whatever your current family or marital situation, whatever your past or present religious affiliation, whatever your personal history, age, background, race, abilities, whatever your self esteem. You are invited, welcomed, accepted, loved, and respected by the Catholic community of St Edward the Confessor.
We are involved in a movement called Divine Renovation, which was created by Fr. James Mallen from Nova Scotia. This movement seeks to strengthen, deepen and encourage the gifts of the parishioners, to a point of really sharing leadership of the parish. We also have an active Children’s Liturgy group, a Ministry to the Sick, a Prayer line, and much more. There is something for everyone.
Join Us for Our Upcoming Celebrations At Our Church, live online and enjoy a recorded mass any time.
We also invite you to join us every Sunday at noon for a personal and interactive Mass on Zoom.
We had a delightful breakfast on Sunday, September 3 following Mass. that included bagels, fresh fruit and a variety of breakfast caserols
Thanks to all who attended
Children’s Liturgy and Activities
We have a passionate, knowledgeable team supporting learning and fun activities for our children. This includes everything from preparation for the Sacraments such as Eucharist and Confirmation to preparing plays for Christmas and Easter, totally performed by the children and youth of the parish as well as undertaking work supporting our community.
We especially welcome all Children. You can simply come to our Sunday Eucharist at 9:00 and have your Children join us there or you can contact us.
We will be celebrating First Eucharist in the beginning of June.
Our Activities & Outreach
SEC is expanding its reach within our community and beyond. There are many services offered and opportunities to become actively involved in these activities. These include:
The Ministry to the Sick - This is an outreach service to both members of our Parish and community generally that cannot participate with regular services. Contact Linda or Roy at 514-426-4523 or by email stedwardtheconfessor@gmail.com
Prayer Line - Prayer is incredibly powerful and comforting. Our Prayer Line offers you the opportunity to have others pray for your intentions. This includes for those who are sick, family concerns, your work needs, your business needs and all of life’s calls. Please contact Linda Haynes at 514-758-8965 or lindahaynes@yahoo.com
Christmas Food Baskets and Gifts - We support numerous families in need across the West Island at Christmas by providing food and gifts. Lynn Jansen is in charge of this great initiative which you might like to support
Pillar’s Trust - Pillar’s Trust promotes strength within our local
Catholic communities and actions that support and increase vitality in all our parishes. SEC are both active supporters of Pillar’s Trust and their work. We have also received generous support from them to substantially upgrade our digital presence. Maria
Lectors Group - Would you like to proclaim God’s Word during our celebrations? We actively welcome your participation and after some basic training under the care of Brenda Leigh, we will use your gift well!
The Synod Process - Pope Francis said “A synodal Church is a Church which listens.” What is being asked of the entire RC Church is for the laypeople to submit a summary of how the Holy Spirit is wanting the Church to move and serve. This involvement concludes on May 2022. Contact us if your would like to join with us to participate at 514-426-4523 or by email stedwardtheconfessor@gmail.com.
Our Priest - Father Mike
Father Mike Shaw joined our Parish in 2020 . He is also a passionate educator so our services are always great learning opportunities for all.
Father Mike was born in United Kingdom and has a brother and a sister. He was ordained in 1975 at Saint John Brebeuf Parish in ville Lasalle.
